How to Use the Financial File Detector Tool

Step 1: Upload Your Financial File
Click Upload File or drag and drop your file. The tool reads the first 2 KB for detection. No more of the file is read.
Step 2: Review the Detection Verdict
The Detection Verdict card shows the identified format, confidence level, and a brief description of what that format is used for.
Step 3: Review Matched Indicators
The Matched Indicators card shows every check performed for the top-scoring format:
- ✓ indicators matched — these contributed to the verdict
- — indicators did not match — these reduce confidence
Step 4: Check All Format Scores
Below the indicator list, a score summary shows all five formats and how many of their indicators matched. This is useful when a file has ambiguous signals shared by multiple formats.
Step 5: Follow Next Step Links
The Next Steps card links to the appropriate viewer (e.g., OFX Viewer, MT940 Viewer) and available converters for the detected format. Click any link to proceed immediately.
