Excel .xlsx fileThe FinancialDataTools.com Excel Viewer is a free, browser-based tool for opening, inspecting, and exporting Microsoft Excel XLSX files. It runs entirely in your browser — no file is ever uploaded to any server.
Open any .xlsx or .xlsm file created by Microsoft Excel 2007 or later, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, or any other Office Open XML-compatible application. Multi-worksheet workbooks are fully supported.
Browse all worksheets with one-click tab switching. View cell values in a spreadsheet-style grid. Formula cells are highlighted — click any to see its formula in the side panel and formula bar. Toggle "Show Formulas" mode to display all formulas inline. Sort any column. Search across all cells. Export to CSV, JSON, TSV, or Markdown.
Cells that contain formulas are marked with a purple indicator dot. Clicking a formula cell shows the full formula text (e.g. =SUM(A1:A10)) in the formula bar at the top and in the Cell Detail side panel. The viewer displays the saved calculated value — it does not re-execute formulas.
All file processing happens inside your browser using the SheetJS JavaScript library. No file content is transmitted to any server. Closing the browser tab clears all data from memory immediately.
Click the Open button or drag and drop your .xlsx file onto the viewer. The workbook loads immediately. Click any sheet tab to switch worksheets. Click any cell to inspect its value and formula. Click "Show Formulas" to toggle formula display mode. Click Export to download the current worksheet in your preferred format.
